I copied this collage from Wendy's blog ... she had some amazing photos. It was such a fun day - and we thank all who came. (I know that Amy was the chief planner ... and she did a great job! She put together a book with photos down through the years as a surprise, and we love it!!)
When we thought about what we wanted to do for our 40th anniversary, we came up with many different ideas, but when it came down to it, we decided we wanted to go to the place that has brought us hundreds and hundreds of happy hours ... Disneyland!!! While we were there we got to see the nostalgic "Electrical Light Parade" ... which also brought back many fond memories.
A sweet couple took our picture in front of the waterfall in California Adventure ... and then we took theirs!!! It was warm ... but not hot ... and we loved it!! We stayed at the Ayres Hotel in Anaheim ... and LOVED it ... we had to drive over to the park, but got a wonderful HOT breakfast every morning and the room was great and so was their pool!! A less expensive option that turned out wonderful.
Because we were celebrating our anniversary, and this is the Year of Celebration in D-land, they gave each of us "Happy Anniversary" buttons to wear ... so everywhere we went cast members would wish us a Happy Anniversary ... and many times they asked how many years and then would say "Wow - that's amazing!!" It was fun!!
We had the train 'conductor' take our picture again ... after all, it's part of the fun!!
We always have to stop and look at our 'brick' ... and then usually take it's picture too! We have had it for almost 10 years ... and it is a great memory for us of a place we love. Look for it sometime: C29 642.
One day Disneyland was a bit more crowded than we like (we had 4 days there so we could afford to leave early one day) so we took a ride down to Huntington Beach and walked down the sand for over an hour ... and LOVED it!! There is nothing like the smell and FEEL of the ocean - it is definitely one of the things we miss!!

Happy 40th Anniversary!! What a fun way to celebrate! That's so cool that you got buttons to wear one day around the park. And I just have to say "ditto" to the feeling at the beach!
